🌍 Sustainable Design, Sustainable Future With sustainability at the forefront of our minds, our design incorporates eco-friendly features that prioritize the environment. Solar panels will power the development, rainwater harvesting systems will promote water conservation, and energy-efficient materials will minimize our carbon footprint. 🌳 Upgrading the Area, Enhancing Security Our student accommodation block aims to transform the landscape by repurposing a vacant brownfield site, we're revitalising the area with modern architecture and green spaces. Additionally, our design emphasizes passive security measures to ensure the safety and well-being of both residents and the existing community. 🙌 Reducing Anti-Social Behaviour Creating a harmonious environment is key to fostering a sense of community. Our thoughtful layout and engaging communal spaces encourage social interactions, promoting positive relationships among students and the local community. Together, we can reduce anti-social behaviour and build a stronger, united neighbourhood. Stay tuned for updates as we bring this sustainable student accommodation to life! #createthirtyeight #plotdesigner #nottinghamarchitects Today we took a step into the past and discovered the hidden wonders of an old bank. Our first discovery was the bank's main vault which was located in the basement.
To open the heavy vault door we had to turn the wheels to release the bolts. Once inside our second discovery was a smaller safe which was probably used to store the bank's cash. Our third discovery was found in the loft space (this was my favourite). A fully working mechanical winding clock powered by weights and pulleys. What a find! It’s now time to see if we can make new compliment old! If only all site visits were this exciting! Which was your favourite discovery? #LostInTime #ForgottenTreaturs #ArchitecuralGems #NottinghamArchitects Our team have secured planning permission for five new eco homes in Nottinghamshire. These family homes will be ready for their new owners in early 2024. #planning #team #newhomes #nottinghamarchitect
At JLK architects we believe research, educational visits and exposure to new ideas is the way to keep our designs fresh and relevant to our clients. This week we joined the Urban Design Group on their guided tour of Birmingham to see how a local city is addressing planning issues and mixing modern buildings with traditional ones.
#planning #urbandesign #architects Our conservation architects have been designing sympathetic additions to a residential Victorian building in Nottinghamshire. We have referenced the Victorian detailing in a contemporary way resulting in a harmonious addition.
