Today we received a lovely bouquet of flowers from one of our clients. We love to help people and going the extra mile is all part of the service we offer at JLK.
We have been working closely with our Nottingham based client to design a head office that reflects their lively business and creates a productive and stimulating space for their team. The Grade II listed building posed some problems but also offered the opportunity to create bright, naturally north lit spaces that will have a good quality of light throughout the year. We have utilised an existing courtyard to create a glazed atrium plus the additional space the team needs. We focused on creating a dynamic team environment through both formal and informal working spaces. This is a building where this business can grow but still keep their values. #listedbuilding #nottinghamarchitects
This week we met with @do_not_go_gentle_ to discuss the words ‘sustainability’ and ‘eco’ and what they actually mean!?! It was great to meet another Nottingham based business with the same core values and such passion! #sustainability #eco
At our Nottingham architects practice we have debated and speculated on the potential 2023 Sterling prize winner since the shortlist was published, this year’s shortlisted buildings were varied and exciting. Yesterday it was announced that the John Morden Centre by MAE won the award, we agree with the judge’s decision. This project has social value, beauty and is serving its community.
Founded in 1695, Morden College is a charity dedicated to providing older people in need with a home for life. The residents live on the Grade I-listed college site in Blackheath, which is attributed to English architect Sir Christopher Wren. The John Morden Centre is a daycare centre housing social and medical facilities for all residents. A very worthy winner. Our team visited the UK Construction Week show to look at new technologies that we can incorporate into our designs. It’s always a pleasure to talk to suppliers involved in innovation in construction.
#ukconstructionweek Our team of architects are busy creating a harmonious pallet of materials for a new housing development in Nottinghamshire. From contemporary chic to timeless elegance, we're embracing diverse styles to ensure every homeowner finds their perfect match. When complete, there will be five large individually designed homes for families to relax in and enjoy.
Despite the often negative media coverage regarding the economy, JLK Architects are seeing an increasing number of developers interested in building sustainable start up units for small businesses in Nottinghamshire. Designing a space for these businesses where they can grow and blossom, is a joy for our team. We look forward to welcoming the new businesses to this development before the end of 2023. Our team have secured planning permission for 4 commercial units in Nottinghamshire. These commercial units should be ready for their new owners in late 2023. #planning #team #commercialproperty #nottinghamarchitect
